TOPDON Phoenix Lite 2 Bidirectional Control and Live Data

TOPDON Phoenix Lite 2 Bidirectional Control and Live Data. Special functions, Actuation tests, and Live data stream

In this video I take a closer look at the special function, actuation tests, and live data pids on this scan tool using a modern test vehicle, a 2022 Kia K5. The test vehicle in my previous video featuring the TOPDON Phoenix Lite 2 was a 2006 GMC full size truck. There is a big difference in the amount of overall data pids and bidirectional control between that older vehicle and a brand new car. BIG difference!

My previous TOPDON Phoenix Lite 2 video that give a complete overview of this scan tool can be found here: https://youtu.be/KUL7bFuvFp0

After trying this for a few days it quickly became on of my favorite OBD2 diagnostic tools. It is very easy to use, it has all the functionality that I want and need, and it’s price point makes it one of the best values on the entire scan tool market. Not only does it have ALL the functionality, it comes with 2 years of free software and firmware updates, at a price that can not be beat.

TOPDON PHOENIX LITE 2 Specs:
• Includes one year manufacturer warranty
• Includes two years free software and firmware updates
• After the two years of free updates, the updates will cost $430 per year (The price was lowered since the video was recorded)
• Updates are NOT required to continue using the scan tool at its current software level

Foxwell NT809BT OBDII Diagnostic Scan Tool Review. NEW!

Foxwell NT809BT OBDII Diagnostic Scan Tool Review. NEW! 4K

Foxwell NT809BT OBDII Diagnostic Scan Tool Review. This is a very familiar scanner since I already reviewed the NT809 NON BT several months ago. This new NT809BT is basically the exact same tool, but it’s Bluetooth wireless instead of being a corded tool. This video is a rough overview of the tool since my original review of the original corded tool already exists here on YouTube. This Foxwell OBD2 scanner is a very capable tool with a fair amount of bidirectional control. You can graph live data, save live data, and keep a vehicle history all within the tool itself. This new tool also comes with a blow mold case instead of the hard canvas bag the original Nt809 came in. The tool physically seems very well built with a responsive touchscreen with ample brightness for bright daytime viewing. If you’re in the market for a good scan tool with above average capabilities, make sure you put this one on your list of considerations…. it’s pretty good!

Autel DS808K ODBII Diagnostic Scan Tool Review With New Features

A review of the Autel DS808K OBD2 diagnostic scan tool with new features as of June 1st 2022.

A review of the Autel DS808K OBD2 diagnostic scan tool with new features as of June 1st 2022. The DS808K is a diagnostic scan tool kit with full bidirectional control and with a full set of OBD1 adapters. This scan tool has the same features and functionality as the larger 906, but in the 808 line of scan tools. It’s been about two years since I featured an Autel scanner on this channel and it was a nice change to finally get to use one again. Autel scanners have always been at the top of the food chain for imported scan tools and this one is no different. This tool is very powerful with it’s complete full bidirectional control ability and it’s software that is relatively free of glitches. It just works, and it works smoothly! On June 1st 2022 Autel sent out a full line of updates for the 808 family of scan tools. This particular model of 808 has always had the same functionality as the 906 but it did gain the ability to be compatible with FCA “Auto Auth” which is needed for some functions when working on 2018 and newer Fiat / Chrysler Automobiles. If you want to have have full access to those vehicles, you will need a scan tool compatible with “Auto Auth” and this tool has that ability. It also gained the “Digital Inspection” function which is the ability to operate the Autel MV105/108 digital inspection camera directly on this scan tool. If you’re in the market for a very capable full bidirectional control scan tool that runs smoothly with no glitches, be sure to take a good look at the Autel DS808K.

XTOOL D9 PRO Review. The Upgraded Version of D8 / A80 OBDII Diagnostic Scan Tool. DoIP & CAN FD

The new Xtool D9 Pro, which is the upgraded version of the D8/A80 line of diagnostic scan tools.

I review the new Xtool D9 Pro, which is the upgraded version of the D8/A80 line of diagnostic scan tools. This tool comes in two flavors, The D9, and the D9 Pro. (I will list the differences between the two models near the bottom of this video description) This is a brand new model for 2022 and it’s the first Xtool OBDII scanner to feature their new module topology mapping software. The D9 is ready for the future, too…. it’s compatible with the newer DoIP and CAN FD protocols. It has full bidirectional control, with 35+ special functions including ABS brake bleed. It’s also capable of ECU coding and ECU programming. (on only certain makes of vehicles) The BEST PART is the initial purchase price includes THREE YEARS of free software and make/model updates. Most high end scan tools like this typically only include one year of free updates. A full list of tech specs is included within the video.

If you’re looking for a very powerful high end scan tool that is somewhat future proof, be sure to put this one on your list of considerations. With it’s CAN FD and DoIP capabilities, and 3 year of free updates, this scan tool is ready for just about any vehicle that will hit the road within the near future.

Please be sure to post any questions or comments that you may have.

The difference between the D9, and the D9 Pro is:

  • D9 Pro supports ECU CODING for BMW / VW / AUDI / Škoda / BENZ…. The D9 only supports the VW / AUDI / Škoda.
  • D9 Pro supports ECU PROGRAMMING for BMW/ VW / AUDI / Škoda / BENZ / FORD (Offline) / MAZDA (Offline)…. the D9 does not.

Both of them come with the NON-OBD2 connector Kit

Foxwell NT809 Scan Tool Review. Automotive OBDII Scanner With Bidirectional Control, ABS Brake Bleed

Foxwell NT809 Scan Tool Review. Automotive OBDII Scanner With Bidirectional Control, ABS Brake Bleed

A review of the Foxwell NT809 automotive diagnostic scan tool. This is a mid-level, pro grade scan tool with bidirectional control (also called actuation tests) that will pretty much handle about 99% of things that you could need to repair your own vehicle. It is very well built, it has a nice bright touch screen, with a kickstand on the back, and it’s very intuitive to use. If you can operate a modern day smartphone, then you should be able to easily operate this tool. The included, printed owner’s manual is very well written, easy to read, and includes definitions for all abbreviation that are found on the scan tool. This is handy for users who may not be familiar with all the abbreviations and/or acronyms used in the auto repair world. This Foxwell NT809 scan tool comes with a hard formed canvas case with a handle, the scan tool itself, the OBDII cable, the charger cable with USB-A to USB-C, owner’s manual, and quick start guide.

I did notice the OBDII cable is a tad shorter than I would like, but inexpensive OBDII extension cables can be found all over the internet. In fact, I believe all corded OBDII scan tools could benefit from an extension cable regardless of how long the included cable may be. This way you can easily move about the vehicle while staying connected during auto repairs. Also, I noticed the tool does not come with a power brick (charger). Again, not a big deal because by now, most people probably already have a bunch of these laying around from other devices…. But I still feel it should’ve been included with the tool.

Bottom line, I’ve used many different brands and models of automotive scanners…. This tool seemed very well built and very easy to use. The software was intuitive and functioned smoothly. If you’re in the market for a mid-level pro grade scan tool with bidirectional control, be sure to put this one on your consideration list.
